Of the many questions that are often asked in relation to laminate tile flooring, here are some of the most-asked, along with their answers. Hopefully, this will help you with your own decision. If you still have questions, simply contact Denrich Flooring, or stop by to personally speak with a flooring professional:
Wax is not recommended for laminate tile flooring. While wax makes hardwood shine and gives it a nearly new look, using it on laminate has the opposite effect. In fact, on laminate, wax causes dirt to accumulate, making your floors look cloudy and unimpressive. Instead, a floor cleaner made especially for laminate tile floors is the best thing to use.
Can I Use a Steam Mop on My Laminate Tile?
Steam mops are quite popular and the results of using one are said to be great. However, that’s not the case with your laminate tile flooring. The amount of moisture released by these mops is so hard on laminate, that it could be ruined completely. Moisture causes laminate tile to swell and, in time, buckle. If you’re left with a steam mop as your only option, keep it moving quickly, so the moisture won’t have time to permeate the planks.
How Fade Resistant is Laminate Tile?
Laminate tile flooring features a top layer that most usually contains aluminum oxide. Because of this, it is very resistant to fading, even with exposure to the light of the sun. However, if that exposure is constant or intense, some coloration will eventually take place. To keep that from happening, if your laminate tile is in direct sunlight all the time, make sure to use mats or area rugs to prevent as much as possible.
Can I Install My Laminate Over Existing Vinyl?
If certain conditions are met, you can definitely install laminate tile flooring over an existing vinyl floor. For instance, the vinyl has to be in good condition, completely level and cleaned of all existing debris and dirt.
